Dapper Cars - Grand Theft Relocation
Dapper Cars Sales moved to a new Los Angeles dealership location, so runngun media turned a routine address announcement into a GTA-inspired automotive promo. A game-style map zooms out, travels across the city, selects a new property and zooms in on the new destination. Familiar real-estate dialogue and video-game-inspired sound design frame the relocation as a virtual property purchase. Creative direction and editing by Phil Novskii for runngun media.
The Challenge
Dapper Cars Sales had moved to a new dealership location in Los Angeles. We needed to announce the move in a way that felt like an event, rather than just another change-of-address post.
Our solution was to treat the dealership's new home like a newly purchased property in an open-world video game. A familiar GTA-style map transition becomes the announcement itself: zoom out from the city, travel to a new point, and zoom in to reveal the destination.
The Creative Idea
What if relocating a car dealership felt like acquiring a new piece of real estate in Grand Theft Auto? We built the short around that instantly recognizable visual language: a map that pulls back, a newly selected location, and a rapid zoom into the destination. The game-inspired voiceover — “This is prime development land. This seems perfect.” — and sound cues make the reveal feel like a property purchase rather than a conventional business update.
Execution
The edit combines animated map movement, a point-to-point location transition, game-inspired sound design and short-form pacing. Instead of placing the dealership's new location in a static announcement, the video gives viewers a miniature journey: identify the map, follow the move, discover the new home.
Why This Works
The reference is instantly recognizable to gaming and automotive audiences, but the storytelling works even without knowing the game. A clear visual destination keeps the message simple, while the unexpected framing turns an operational update into branded entertainment.
Created by Phil Novskii for runngun media, the project shows how creative direction, motion graphics and precise editorial timing can help independent automotive businesses make everyday announcements memorable. This is an independent GTA-inspired concept, not an official Grand Theft Auto production.
