Hey, I’m Phil Novskii, director and DP at runngun media. Every client we work with works with me directly. Our Reels have generated millions of views, even on accounts with almost no audience. In this article, I’ll break down exactly how I build unique videos for our clients, where the ideas come from, and what actually makes each one different. But it always starts with the idea. And ideas are the one thing we never run out of, even when we runngun.
It starts with the prod brief. And every one is different. A lot of new clients come to us without really knowing how social media works yet, and honestly, that’s always a fun challenge for me — figuring out how to unlock the potential that’s already there. It doesn’t matter what your office looks like, what stage your project is at, or whether you’re already an established business with a strong brand identity. I take what makes you you and build a new little universe around it — one I’d actually want to discover myself. And not just discover once. I want it to become part of my daily feed.
In the first three seconds, the viewer decides what level you’re on. Everything after that should keep building their interest. By the end, they should trust you. That’s my recipe for a perfect business video showcase. A good example is a bartending team that came to us before they even had their own branded T-shirts. I wrote a 40-second showcase that could explain what they do without saying a word. We rented a truck and a full bar setup, printed branded stickers, brought in a florist as a collab, and took the whole thing up to Angeles Crest. They didn’t have all of that when they came to us. We built the world around them so the audience could instantly see what the business could be.
A million views means nothing if the viewer has no reason to stay. One of the simplest videos we made for our runngun FilmStation reached around one million views and brought roughly 2,000 new followers. The Reel got their attention, but the rest of the profile did the conversion — people landed on a page full of filmmaking content, real production work and a product that made sense for that audience. The funny thing is, the system itself was far from perfect. But on camera, that wasn’t the story. I found its strongest feature and built the video around it, adding small details that made that strength even more obvious. That’s a big part of my approach: find what’s already strong and make it impossible to miss. That’s why we don’t think about a Reel as a standalone video. The hook gets the view. The content around it builds trust. And the whole profile does the selling.
A music video doesn’t have to end with the music video. At runngun media, we also turn productions into viral short-form content designed for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.BTS moments, unused footage, alternate takes, hooks, loops, and vertical edits can become a complete content campaign around the release. The goal isn’t just more views — it’s turning attention into an audience that stays with the artist after the release.Want to see how we build viral content and grow audiences? “Red to Black” was filmed in just four hours using our $2,990 one-location music video package - our leanest production option and a perfect fit for live music videos and bands. One location doesn’t have to mean one look. We use lighting, camera work, and location selection to turn a standard live performance into a cinematic music video. For this project, the main stage featured an LED backdrop, while a separate laser setup created an additional visual space without moving the production. A big part of the final look comes down to choosing the right location. We know Los Angeles spaces that can deliver multiple distinct setups under one roof - keeping production fast, efficient, and cinematic.
